Vision to Leverage
Eight stages that compound, not a checklist
2 min read
What it says
Eight stages, treated as a compounding sequence rather than a linear checklist. The loop returns wider each time it completes:
- Sankalp — resolve, intention
- Abhyas — consistent practice
- Tapas — disciplined heat, voluntary difficulty
- Swadhyaya — self-study
- CBT — examining and rewiring thought
- Proof of Work — visible, verifiable output
- Ishvara Pranidhana — surrender of attachment to outcome
- Building Leverage — compounding through code, media, capital, relationships
Each stage feeds the next. Resolve without practice evaporates; practice without difficulty plateaus; output without surrender curdles into anxiety about results. The spiral form matters: the sequence is meant to be walked again and again, arriving each time with more capacity than the last.
How I use it
A personal note on walking this sequence is still being written.
Where it comes from
This is Divyum's own synthesis, not a sequence taught in the Yoga Sutras. It combines resolve and practice with vocabulary drawn from classical yoga, ideas from cognitive behavioural therapy, and modern thinking about leverage. For one part of that vocabulary, Yoga Sutra II.1 brings together tapas, svadhyaya, and ishvara pranidhana; see Vivekananda's translation and commentary. The combination here, and the order of its eight stages, are personal. The short definitions await Divyum's fuller explanation.
